The "original" quarry site, with over 600 acres, began making crushed stone for the Corps of Engineers river levee program in 1882. JB is located on the Mississippi river in south St. Louis County, just 1/4 mile south of the Jefferson Barracks Bridge. Easy truck access is available off I-255 and Koch road. In addition to our mining operation, JB also hosts a Mississippi river sand operation, a barge terminal and Bussen Underground Warehouse.

Jefferson Barracks Quarry consists of a 260-foot deep open pit with flawless deposits of Saint Louis and Salem limestone. The limestone is of such a high quality that the entire deposit meets specifications for MODOT approved road base. Our experience and equipment allows Bussen Quarries the ability to crush limestone that is state approved for use in the production of asphalt and concrete. Jefferson Barracks also offers all MSD materials including larger materials used in erosion control and creek stabilzations. Taking advantage of our location on the Mississippi River, we are also a large supplier of Mississippi River Sand and Delignited River Sand that is ASTM C-33 certified.
