Bussen Soccer Fields

R1-08779-0005.jpg

Bussen Quarries began work on the construction of a soccer park on Jefferson Barracks Quarry property in the early 1980's. Bussen donated all land, labor and materials in an effort to create a first rate athletic facility. Once completed, "Bussen Fields" were donated to St. Francis of Assisi Grade School located on Telegraph Road in South County.

Over the years, thousands of local athletes have enjoyed playing in soccer tournaments on these fields that are still partially maintained by Bussen. One fact that many local residents find interesting is that Bussen Fields are actually located above our underground warehouse system. It was the desire to keep the soccer fields intact that create the need to mine underground in the first place!
